This is my first Chainlink post, and I tried to do a search for answers to my question--my apologies if this has been discussed before.

I'm looking to take a basic, hands-on bike maintenance/repair workshop or class. I've heard terrific things about West Town Bikes' offerings, and I'm basically sold, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing any other options. Other recommendations?

Thanks!
Sharon

J at Tati had workshops on repairs before. He may still be running them now.
Besides West Town:

REI (Lincoln Park) just had a basic bike maintenance workshop earlier this year. Not sure how often they offer it. Performance (also near Lincoln Park) also has bike workshops once in a while. Neither is as hands-on as West Town's though.
I just started my second "course" at WTB. I'm repeatedly impressed by how excellent it is. Everyone is very helpful and friendly, the staff is very knowledgeable, and my confidence level in the "hard" parts of bike maintenance has totally improved.

Like travesty mentioned, my tool collection has grown dramatically over the last few months.

Tuesday nights & Saturdays are open shop - perhaps you could walk in and check it out. Or maybe Women's Night this Wednesday the 4th.
Here on the southside, don't forget about Blackstone -- which has both structured classes and drop-in hours. It's an amazing resource.

TATI will be starting up the spring maintenance series in a couple of weeks, but my sessions are more classroom style due to limited space. The wheelbuilding classes are hands on though...
