Left Humboldt Park,did some errands on the way, West town, Wicker Park then wound my way over to the LFP all the way to Rogers Park, some Pizza and a beer then back.

What a great day for a ride.

I'm in Oak Park, my dad lives in Edgewater. My brother was going to pick us up and give us a lift, but my son got tired of waiting and wanted to bike in. So - thirteen miles in, hang out there for a few hours, and then take the LFP from edgewater, stop periodically to play in the sand, down to the loop where he decides he wants to stop for sushi, which is apparently twelve miles - not bad. Wrap it up by hopping on the green line because as yet I haven't set up my hoopty with a thing he can sleep on.

That's a good day.

Refilled my smugness tank this weekend, which was running precariously low.

On Friday had to bring our tandem over to the bike shop for repairs. It is too far to walk back, so it was me riding one bike, steering the tandem alongside me with my right hand. Various incredulous looks from drivers, most of whom probably thought that I was stealing a bike.

Then on Saturday, first a ride to Lincolnwood to pick up a nightstand. Carried it back on our trailer. Got various "wow, that is amazing" comments from the furniture store workers.

Then off to the lumber yard, to pick up a bunch of cedar for our new garden bed.

It all was accompanied by some of the nicest weather we had in a few weeks.

You ghost biked a tandem? That's impressive!

And maybe you turned a furniture store worker into a cyclist! That's the point, to be an example of what IS possible, right?

Wow. I decided to bike the lakeshore trail N from jackson to Belmont on friday. Oh mah gawd it was insanely windy. A lot of runners, not too many bikers. I think I'll just stick to Milwaukee/elston unless I know its not ridiculously windy. How many mph was it on friday eve?? As for today, 1st ride w/ weight on the rear rack, and the ride was smoother, faster, and easier. Whodathunkit? Some bikes are obviously made to haul a load!

Friday it was only like 20 mph. Today, its 30 mph steady wind, 40 mph gust. Yeah, I'm riding streets home today.

Isn't it crazy? I had the same fears when I switched to a rack and pannier, as well. Just like you, I found the ride to be incredibly smooth and easy. Perhaps it's the relaxed geometry of the bike, but mine doesn't mind hauling stuff on the rack deck and pannier. Much easier than by backpack.
