I'm looking to find a vintage road bike. This will be my first road bike ever. I usually ride BMX bikes but those aren't ideal for commuting to school and what not. I've been checking craigslist frequently but I haven't really found anything I would consider buying. Are there any bike shops in Chicago that have a good selection of vintage road bikes. I would love to go and check them out if anyone knows of any. It would really help me out.

I can't find it do you have the link?
oh right haha. It looks sweet
That would be a perfect frame size for me
Yee haw, LOL, see the hunting has begun in earnest! I luv it. Part of the dang fun of vintage is 'hunting'. Group hunting is even better. It so satisfies some part of our primitive brains.
Here's a nice tool for searching CL:

Should you ever become a motivated psycho, I mean buyer you can use this tool.

Hunting for 8-10 months, targeting an '86 Schwinn Peloton in the right size, budget and original condition. Becoming an extremely motivated buyer. Who talks the MI retiree into signing up for Paypal, cause he lives in FL, where said bike is. Then locate an LBS in FL to pack and ship it to ChicAgo. Whoops did I say that out loud? ; ) Okay never mind. Local CL will yield what you need.
Let's focus on the basics. Fit, budget and value.
I second Kevin T, Lotus: http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/bik/2919105449.html
Might fit, in the range on budget and value. Although value is debatable here. I know little about where this bike fit into the lineup.
What kind of lotus is that for sale do you know?
Hunting is fun lol well it has kept me busy the last few days haha That search tool you posted is pretty cool

thanks for your help kevin, I contacted the seller. I'm gonna go check out what they have at working bikes tomorrow see what they have. But i'll probably end up getting the lotus if I can find some way to pick it up since I don't have a car.
Here is another chunk of fine vintage steel.
At $225 it's even a little bit further out of your price range and maybe a tad bit small. -but maybe someone else might be interested. This is a fine vintage bike.

If anyone has a vintage road bike for sale for someone about 5'3" available or sees a good Craigslist posting please let me know. I checked out Nearly New earlier this week but they didn't have anything that would fit me and I don't have time to check back with them frequently as they suggested. Prefer step-through frame but it doesn't have to be. Excited to be in the market for what will be my second bike and first road bike!
Hey Kevin,
Awesome- I just messaged you about this. Available to come see this afternoon or tomorrow morning or an evening next week. Thanks!
After a long day of hunting I ended up getting a Lotus Excelle from one of friend's neighbor in Portage Park. This guy has like 20 bikes in his garage that he was selling. He was pretty cool. Hes very good with repairs and what not if you're interested and does it for a good price.
The one I got looks kinda like this one.
