portable sock drying concept. this article considers it a redunancy, but it would be a great item for cyclists to pack on rainy commute days!

thanks iggi. I almost thought that was a NSFW thing though...yikes
Dan - maybe you can use it for your wet gloves...
And echoing Chris C's redundancy sentiment, I wore a lighter pair of gloves for the am commute, and brought a warmer pair of gloves for the anticipated (colder) pm commute.
i suppose you could be prepared with extra pairs of anything, or be waterproof to begin with.
I want to say those gizmo's are just redundant, but sometimes it's great to slip your hands into some pre-warmed gloves for a cold commute. Instead of relying on your own body heat to warm up your hands and keep them warm, this can help eliminate that adjustment period.
I wouldn't spend 80 bucks on that thing from Amazon, though. If I happened to see something like the doornob or the other dryer vent things at Bed Bath and Beyond for 10 or 15 bucks for example, I might bite.
overshare.

And expanding upon Kevin C's redundant sock preparedness, I have had to use spare socks as:
- gloves
- bandage
- toilet paper
- bike frame padding
I feel that socks are an unsung hero of our modern world.
It is an efficient item but looks like a weekend warrior type thing or someone who can afford to have a separate room just for bike stuff. I have a dryer.
Many moons ago I was working a reasonable walk from home and I saw a product which was 2 tubes that provide a gentle heat to dry (and prewarm) a pair of boots. Because they were just tubes they would fit gloves, socks or the like effectively.
Excuse me fer a sec while I dig'em out to get the name.
That was easy...they are from Seirus Innovation and called Boot Toasters. I'm sure there will be a dozen versions of them by different makers since they involve no patent-able technology.
It has been at least a decade since I bought them but I think I got them at REI...maybe

I ran a search and hit on a range of prices from 16.95 to 29.95 (Campmor to Ebay) with REI at 25.00.
