Today my damn is "bacon strip" bike lanes. You know, where bus stops are and the pavement is all buckled and wavy. Seriously, how long have buses been operating here in Chicago; and no better solution for this? I think they use marshmallow substrate specifically for bus stop areas. These bacon strips are especially hazardous with a thin layer of ice or when they are snowed over and you can't see them.

I think you start to sound like a whiner, with these repeated complaints.

I liked the "I did ride today" thread much better

Just sayin'...

Also think it'd be a good idea to just use the same original thread instead of making a new one with the same title every day.  :)

A lot of the bus stops have been replaced with concrete.  We'll see how well that holds up.

Yeah, just trying to get some action on the board.  Back to the drawing board...

Can I get just a few more off my chest though?

The puff of sewer gass right when you are passing over a manhole.  Eeeeyyeeeww.

Riding with no lights in the dark.  Been said on this board over and over.  I really want my fellow riders to survive.

The bus drivers that race out of their stop when you have already passed them almost to the driver's window...

That's all.

Yeah.  I used to think taxi drivers were awful.  Lot's of boneheaded bus drivers out there, too...

It would be better if the new threads had new titles instead of repeating the exact same title over and over.

Yeah, it could be: "The Daily Damn - January 12, 2012"

In a bus related annoyance; what the fuck is up with people who feel the need to stand in the middle of not only the bike lane, but often, the middle of the goddamn road to check and see if the bus is coming?  The amazing part is they are so fixated on looking for the bus they miss the fact that bikes, and cars, are bearing down upon them.

I swear I am just going to run down the next jackass that does it.

Yeah, I agree that those people are annoying but easy enough to dodge. Not as bad as people jumping in the middle of the street to cross with their backs facing traffic.

I'll often tell these people how far back I passed the last bus as I ride by.

We've had a similar problem up here in Milwaukee for years until we replaced the asphalt at most of our bus stops with concrete pans.  This is important when the buses are going between Downtown and malls like Southridge, Bayshore, Mayfair, or Brookfield Square or toward UW-Milwaukee.
