Doctor's bicycle stolen as she tends accident victim

A doctor today told how her bicycle was stolen while she was tending to a road crash victim.

Jennifer Perry, 26, was on her way home from work when she went to the aid of a motorcyclist who had been flung off his bike. As she checked his vital signs, the thief struck.

Dr Perry, a psychiatrist with Barnet and Edgware mental health trust who also trained as a medical doctor, said the theft happened in Holloway Road in Archway during the evening rush hour on Friday.

"The motorcyclist had come off his bike and was lying in the road with a few people standing round," she said. "There was a car parked blocking the road to stop the traffic.

"I quickly rushed over to see if he was okay. My bike was resting by my leg while I was checking on the motorcyclist. I suddenly felt it move and looked round and saw a boy making off with it. He was so quick, I tried to chase but I would never have caught him."

Dr Perry, who lives in Angel, bought the £400 bike only two months ago. She said: "I stopped to help and for someone to take advantage of that in such a way is upsetting. You have to wonder what the world is coming to."

The motorcyclist, who was taken to hospital by ambulance, is thought to have suffered minor injuries.

Not surprising, people suck.
People don't suck, but what happened did! That Doctor did the right thing and it sucked that her bike was stolen, but it is surprising, at least to me.
As it was resting against her leg!? That's some bold thievery.

No, people suck.

Her bike was not taken by some mysterious force, it was taken by a person.

I'm not surprised especially since, according to the article, the thief was not an adult. What did surprise me was this article where a mugger actually returned the victim's cellphone and bus pass.
Reminds me of stories of people going through accident victims' pockets to steal their wallets
I hope the kid doesn't believe in karma.
