All I can tell from his pic is that he spent maybe 100 bucks total on ape hangers and rims so the equates to a 499 asking price...
Then we have this joker,
http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/1029976355.html
All I can say is wow
1984 Miyata with less than 100 miles? More time spent tinkering than riding? And all stock except for - well - pretty much anything that isn't the frameset.

I don't think this guy should be allowed to sell this bike. He should be required to give it to someone who will use it (restored to original condition or not)!

And in case they want to make it go away, I will paste below the original text of the post. I am so sorry I missed getting the original before it departed the cl world:

I would like to comment on this current post as well. Mike, you should be commended for the last four years. Your alleged work ethic and advertisement posting skills have been most admirable.

I agree there have been far too many posts from mechanics, such as you, that have come and gone. It’s unfortunate; I find it hard to believe their lack of success was solely rooted in their intellectual shortcomings and poor writing skills. More than likely, it was based on their poor mechanical skills.

What surprises me most is why you would bother to post an ad criticizing another bike mechanic. Did he say or do anything that would affect your ability to provide services to others? If you are as established as you say you are, why do you care?

So far, all you’ve really done is allege that John offers poor services. What you haven’t proven is how YOU provide a better deal. I'm sorry Mike. Any man who disparages another man, to look like the better man, is no man I want to conduct business with!

Thanks
Bob

p.s. I am in no way affiliated with either Mike or John. In fact, in the grand scheme of things, if either one fell of the face of the planet, it wouldn't affect me the least.

I would like to address the current advertisement placed this morning on Craigslist. I have been advertising on Craigslist for the past 4 years and have been in compliance with all the rules and regulations. During that time I have seen some pretty wild stuff and have seen many bike mechanics come and go but never have I seen someone like John who does not have the intellectual capacity to form his own words but rather chooses to plagiarize someone else.

This person is not affiliated with me in anyway. I have established ties in my own community with a wife, children and home as well as the Craigslist community. I have been providing reasonable bike services for many years with the end result being many happy customers who return time after time as well as sending me referrals for friends, family members and co-workers.

I am sending this warning out to my fellow Craigslister’s trying to protect you from someone who is posing as a professional but obviously is not.

Thanks
Mike

There is ONLY ONE way to SETTLE THIS!

All "RE" posts can now sign up for CRAIGSLIST DEATH MATCH. Each week I will be hosting a fight to the death, no holds barred, grudge match--- pitching bitching opponents against each other to settle their disputes the good old fashioned way-in public-in person.

Bring your spell check, bring your sense of hipster entitlement, bring your tight jeans and disapproving stare, bring your seat posts as weapons! Most of all, BRING IT ON!!!

No longer do you have to fight for clever ironic virtual dominance! If you don't like his price-BASH HIM ONE! If you think he's selling imperfect wheelsets-STEAMROLL HIM! It's down and dirty weasel vs. wussy!

Craigslisters submit your favourite annoying Re-posting whiners by Thursday of each week, and on Friday night we can ride our bikes to a selected location to cheer on your selected cheerless rivals.

Two will enter, one will leave.
