Hello Chainlinkers,

We are group of 8-10 Chicago cyclists  (perhaps you've seen our calandar event or Chainlink group: Free Yoga on Wednesdays) who get together weekly for a community yoga class. We have a talented instructor and a committed membership. All summer we have practicing at Montrose pier but now it getting cold and we need an indoor venue.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Currently the class is free but we would start charging a small amount if we needed to pay for the rent of a space.  We would prefer somewhere on the Northside with good bike parking and close to public trans.  We would be willing to rent by the hour for the space but would be extremely appreciative of a pay-it-forward arrangement so we could continue to keep the class free and open to the community.

Thanks so much!

I don't have a space to offer for free, but just wanted to chime in that I own a yoga and flamenco studio just a few doors down from Kuma's Corner (Belmont/California), and this thread has given me the idea to offer a yoga class specifically for cyclists -- working on the areas of tightness and overuse we all get.  (Why haven't I thought of this before?)  Anyone interested in checking out a 3-class workshop I'm starting on Saturday mornings (though this one isn't specifically for cyclists):  http://www.yogaclasschicago.com/classes.htm.

And, if you really get strapped for a location, let me know -- but my small space might be a little cramped with a group of 10 -- would be mat to mat :)

Have you checked the field houses in nearby parks for free space?
Don't want to be a shameless self-promoter, but if anyone is interested in details on an upcoming Yoga for Cyclists workshop in October (dates TBA), please visit http://www.yogaclasschicago.com/classes.htm.  The series will address tight shoulders, quads, glutes, and other cyclist-specific areas of tightness and overuse using a combination of vinyasa, hatha, and yin forms -- and friendly to those who have never practiced yoga before.  And it will culminate in a take-home, at-home practice to maintain the benefits.
