The prospect of of staying off a bike for the rest of the summer is killing me.
The short explanation to all of this is that last December, I was diagnosed with acute prostatitis with inflammation of the epididimis (sp?). Look it up for an explanation, it's very painful. With my my main doc (who rides) and my urologist, it was determined I was riding "too much," so I took a long break until March. I've been riding pretty regularly since, but having moved back to Evanston, my commute doubled and I started to notice symptoms again. I've tried riding with a "no-nose" saddle, which is fine for short trips, but ultimately causes other problems that make riding difficult as well (Numb hands, hot foot, numbness in my hips).
It's vital that I be able to ride for my work, so I'm faced with some tough choices. I can stay off of bikes period for the next month or two (which is what I don't want to do), I can ride only on the days I feel good and then spend the next week recovering, or I can borrow a recumbent. That's where somebody here comes in.
I would ultimately like to borrow or rent a recumbent from someone through the end of August. If I can't ride a regular bike, I'll just buy a recumbent then. I do have three very nice bikes I'd be willing to temporarily trade with someone as well; they are in the 57-59 cm range.
Please let me know if you can help me out. I love riding and it's killing me to be stuck on the train.
My email is charliebigred@gmail.com or just respond to this post.
Thanks.
