"With all the stolen bike posts lately (and no one thinking "I wonder if there's something under Useful Links for this."), I think it's well past time to make a sticky about the Stolen Bike Registry"

Well said Ryan.

I've been riding the same bike for 5 years without issue, but I guess today was (not) my day. 2005 Jamis Ventura Comp XL Men's Black/Chrome Frame w/ Yellow handle tape/wrap. It was triple locked (pinhead locking skewers on front/back wheels, kryptonite cable component lock threaded around back tire and into u-lock, kryptonite evolution u-lock (orange, flat key) wrapped around frame and bike rail.
450 W Monroe Chicago IL. Building security is reviewing their tape feed from today and I have a police report.
All component info matches the spec here (http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2005&Bra...), except the handle bar stem is 'Specialized'

Thanks for looking.
The person taking the police report is only going to care about your serial number and the monetary value of the bike, not much more. You should probably just pick up the phone and place it with 311 now while wait times are low.
Those of us working to put a picture together of how bike theft is occurring would be very interested in footage showing a U-lock being picked-- if the technique is becoming widespread among bike thieves it could be very bad, as jacking a U-locked bike could be done quickly in broad daylight under cover of a crowd just like cutting a cable lock is now.
