Has anyone heard that Earwax is going to close?

Someone just told me this, and I was courious to know if it is true!?

I used to go to the Earwax when I lived in Wicker Park in 93.  Oh, and Urbis Orbis.  I liked UO better.   Wicker Park ain't been the same since Leo's Lunchroom closed.

This sucks. I used to live three blocks away, and always liked sitting there with a big stack of stuff I hauled out of Myopic, a pile of sweet potato quesadillas and a coffee.

yep - i passed by and noticed that earwax is already back in business.  does anyone know the backstory on why it closed?  it seemed to happen rather suddenly and quietly.

 

the last time they were shut down (in 2008), it was because the city health inspectors found rats / rat droppings, and the owners didn't do anything to fix it.  yuck.

 

i love earwax, but i really hope the most recent closure wasn't because of sanitary problems.  :I
