Where do I begin? :) I rode my bike from Las Vegas, NV, starting my journey on September 1, 2009. By the time I ride to Chicago, I will have been on the road a year; 6,000 miles of road. My journey has just begun. I plan to tour the USA, Canada, the UK, Europe, the Orient and the islands of the Pacific and Indian oceans. Then, back to wherever I like it most - my place in the sun.

Soon, I'll be in Chicago looking for ways to share my story in a beneficial way, sponsorship opportunities, meet and great new friends and old and just ways to help out, share and dance the joy of life.

There now, I am not a stranger; just a little stranger than you, eh? ;)

Hey Ari:
When will you be in Chicago?

Paul
Estimate Thursday, September 9th. I expect to be rolling around town chasing errands and meeting people Friday. Of course, my expectations rarely meet with reality. :)

Something I want to do is work with a welder to make one or two Frankenstein bike racks out of old (steel) bike frames. My traditional style bike racks are not up to the task of hauling my heavy stuff on bumpy roads, etc.
I rolled in last night. Already met a few bicyclists; one rolled up next to me at the light and, with a heartfelt look in his eyes, said "Are you *really* riding your bike to Australia?" Yep. I feel like I am spreading seeds of hope and inspiration. Johnny Appleseed didn't have it this good.
Ari, welcome to our city! Feel free to check out our calendar of events to meet bikey folks. There are tons of rides this weekend! If you find yourself free to tonight, The North Side Critical Mass is a nice way to check out a quiet part of the city on the northern end.

I believe Yuval of UV Metalworks would be good people to contact about welding. His website is here.
