I'm Recruiting Bikers (& Walkers) Again -- Pride 2010

note: For those who plan to ride and who I haven't yet contacted, please send me a message with your email address so I can send out further info. Thanks!

The Active Transportation Alliance and Windy City Cycling Club are hosting a group of cyclists to ride in the annual Gay Pride Parade on Sunday, June 27, 2010. The parade kicks off at noon in Lakeview, Chicago. We're looking for volunteers to ride as well as walk with us. We'd love for participants to be Active Trans and WCCC members, but you don't have to be. And you don't have to identify with the LGBT community, but we would like participants to be supportive of the community. Volunteers must also agree to adhere to the parade rules.

If you're interested, drop a note. We need people to walk as well as to ride, so let me know which you're interested in. We do have limits on numbers, so I'd prefer for interested folks to sign up in advance.

If you have ideas for creative things that we can do as a group, I'm open to hearing those, also.

Questions? Let me know.

Some CDOT staff participated last year.

A lot depends on where we get placed in the parade. Last year this all came together late and we were at the end, it was a couple hours before we started. This year, the entry went in much earlier and I'm hoping we're closer to the start. With the 12 pm kickoff, noon arrival plus getting the bike sounds like it might be too late.

I Totally Agree -
I'd like to come. I'm f/ Michigan; the tenative plan will have me on Amtrak w/ arrival at noon. I need to fetch my bike f/ Bridgeport, but would ride up; and may be late. ETA may be as late as 1:00 - 1:30pm. That might be too late. Let me know whether that makes any sense to catch up :)

Sue.
Down for the cause! I want to ride a great pink cargo rig and i am considering mounting a chair to make it into a mobile float of sorts.
If there is room for one more that is.
