Whenever biking Halsted, I am often annoyed by the hill that bridges the RR tracks. The other day I found a quick, flat side-route that avoids the hill. I just zig over 1 block west to Green St., and zag back at Hubbard St. Just call me lazy and spoiled for living in such a flat city. Alls I need now is an alternate route to avoid that hill at Chicago and Halsted.

This is great - that hill is super annoying, especially the multiple-pothole-twelve-different-kinds-of-concrete section right at the base, at Halsted & Lake. Thanks for posting this.

Sincerely,
Equally spoiled and not a fan of hills in the morning
LOL! I work there (Lake/Halsted). The good news is you're free coasting all the way until the hill right before Chicago...BUT after that, it's cake! You coast all the way to North, and if you catch the light, even beyond. I say go for the hill. It's totally work the rest of the coast!
