The Chainlink

The Craig's List Ad section revisited...classic...clever.....outlandish....Elgin guy....tiring and so forth.

This one caught my eye, and yes Howard, I think this merits re-discussing.

And since it will probably be flagged soon, here is the text:

There is ONLY ONE way to SETTLE THIS!

All "RE" posts can now sign up for CRAIGSLIST DEATH MATCH. Each week I will be hosting a fight to the death, no holds barred, grudge match--- pitching bitching opponents against each other to settle their disputes the good old fashioned way-in public-in person.

Bring your spell check, bring your sense of hipster entitlement, bring your tight jeans and disapproving stare, bring your seat posts as weapons! Most of all, BRING IT ON!!!

No longer do you have to fight for clever ironic virtual dominance! If you don't like his price-BASH HIM ONE! If you think he's selling imperfect wheelsets-STEAMROLL HIM! It's down and dirty weasel vs. wussy!

Craigslisters submit your favourite annoying Re-posting whiners by Thursday of each week, and on Friday night we can ride our bikes to a selected location to cheer on your selected cheerless rivals.

Two will enter, one will leave.

This is a very rare Bike E tandem bicycle. These bikes sold new for $2400, here is your chance to save big $$$$$. This bike has brand new tires, new inner tubes with liners to protect from punctures, new brake pads, freshly tuned. It needs the rear shock to be repaired, sometimes loses air, its a $25 fix, and the front light needs a battery pack. Still functions with out it, just with a rigid ride. To make it even more rare it has a gas motor power assist with thumb throttle that can bring you up to 25 mph, retails for $899. It is very quiet and great for those long trips. No more worries about charging the battery for the electric assist motors. The bike is being sold as is and i have the right to end the auction early at anytime, due to being for sale locally. I bought this for me and my epileptic son, but don't feel comfortable with him behind me so i bought a rhoades car instead.

Free lesson: ALL tires lose air over time - whether you ride the bike or not.

But, it's is "guarenteed" to spark up a conversation!

From the pictures, it looks like the motor would receive quite a jolt if you hit a bad pothole. No worries, I'm no stranger to throwing around motors that are full of gasoline (and trips to the ER and plastic surgeon as a result).

Also, the rear shock is a $25 fix? Ok, so spend the $25 and have it fixed!

A new favorite. It might take a second or two to absorb the sheer genius of the photo.

Not just the fork, the frame's roached, too.

Eeeekkk! Looks like another bent fork! Could just be the way the pics were taken, but it certainly doesn't look right.

Front-end collision. Someone should flag this. It's not safe to ride, and definitely not safe to purchase for $175.

Hmmmm. I wrote that over a year ago and while I don't feel any different, it is a point I no longer have any real concern about. I am no longer perusing the Craigs List, and I clearly feel it is an effort for others to take up if they are frequent users. They control enforcement by their vigilence if they so choose, or let it lie if they so choose. I am unflappably without concern on the point.

Lee,

You obviously have forgotten the rules of the hustle. There are none. Just get out there and get that scrill ya'll!

I definitely mean that guy. And those guys too. It is crazy how much effort they put into violating the craig's list rules about posting (miscategorized and spam/overpost rules) and yes it is annoying. Elgin guy has been known to post his identical ad multiple times a day. In truth, the place for those ads to go is in skilled trade services offered. Of course he's there too. Repeatedly.
