I heard most of it and have to admit that I have new interest in electric bikes. I want to keep riding under my own power for now, but realize that electric bikes could have a big place in all our futures. Neat program on NPR. Thanks for the post.

TC let me take his electric assist tow-bike (that Todd helped him put together) for a spin at the bike winter swapmeet. Different, but definitely fun! I wished I had something similar back in July when I was hauling trailer-fulls of my stuff (including lots of books and buckets of dirt and plants) from Bridgeport to Garfield Park. :-) Great for those with limited mobility or big hills to climb- if I still lived in the Ozarks, I'd definitely consider one for commuting.

Listening to the Podcast now... but I just had to stress that Todd really built my bike.

Todd: Design, fabrication, welding, electrical system (ordering, battery testing, soldering, modification, construction), troubleshooting.

Me: holding shit, painting, heavy lifting, unreasonable demands.

I'll be posting, sometime in the near future, more about it :)
