Shop mottos around West Town Bikes (in no particular order)
Threads love grease.
Bearings love grease even more.
Hand tight before wrench tight.
The more force, the more caution.
Loosen don't remove (when working on bikes if you can do the job by loosening don't take the part off or you may loose it). Loosen don't loose is another variation
No click, no crunch (when adjusting bearings).
Put tools back immediately after use and you'll always know where they are.
Use a dirty rag for dirty work, a clean rag for clean work.
If your bike is in the stand, put some cash in the can (and other variations such as if there's a tool in your hand...).
Pedals go on towards the front of the bike (turning the wrench overhand) and come off towards the back of the bike.
Bottom Bracket cups are the opposite of pedals.
(When taking things apart lay them out in...) Order and Orientation.
When tightening more than one nut/bolt build up tension equally (go back and forth from bolt to bolt).
9/10/11 (the usual number of free packed bearings per cup in a rear hub/front hub/adj. cup bottom bracket).
...and one of my favorites "It's a fine line between COOL and FOOL"!
There's more I'm sure, but those are a few that come to mind.

Can we get a more descriptive topic please? Perhaps "Bicycle Maintenance Reminder Thread"?
This is in an effort to keep things from getting sloppy, and it would be apppreciated.
