i met this family at the Hilly Hundred in Indiana. They even had their dog with them!

What kind of people haul a little dog in a little box on the back of a bike just to do it. I hope one of them is locked in a box and shipped ups to the Mother in Law. lol

Agreed. Why would you think of that idea, let alone think it's a good idea? I too want to haul around an extra 20+ pounds. I hope those bungee cords were extra strength.

I think Julie Hochstadter's photo is of a different group. The Pedouins are NOT traveling with a dog.

The photo she posted is of a family she met on the Hilly Hundred. It still doesn't make any sense to be going on the Hilly Hundred with your dog in a pet carrier though.

Plenty of dogs I've met would prefer to ride along in a box with their people if the alternative is to stay home without them. At least that is the impression I get from their behavior when the humans leave and return and how well they adapt to traveling.

I'd say that which is less cruel - riding in the box or being left at home - totally depends on the dog in question.
