My foray into bicycle films and the shame that will come from its existence.

So I bought this GoPro HD camera back in Dec. to start recording, and critiquing, some of my rides in this crazy city. I think my ultimate goal is to use the footage for educational purposes but some of it will most likely end up as artistic cannon fodder to be ridiculed by those who know better than I.

A couple of weeks ago I played a show at Uncommon Ground and while rehearsing for it I stumbled upon a cover song that I have been wanting to do for a while (got really lucky). I have a voice recorder on my phone and use it to record my drunken jamming sessions from time to time.  I ended up with a couple of good takes but left it at that and moved on to the next thing.

Last weekend I was f-ing around with some footage from the last Midnight Marauders ride and discovered that at some point in the ride the camera fell, pointing at the ground, for like 8 min. I thought it looked kinda cool and wanted to do something with it, so I ended up taking the practice recording and using it as the soundtrack. I didn't do much editing; the beginning and end of the song were cut off and I only edited out a couple of pitch black spots in the video. I don't do much video editing so I barely experimented with filters and such.

For the minimalistic amount of time I put into whatever this is, I like it. If you don't, then the next time you spot me you can punch me in the face for the complete waste of time I have imposed upon your life. Maybe you should punch me twice though because I plan to make more :)

I love all the shadowing of the other bicycles. I also like that you never saw any of the other bikers really. The red coloring in and out was nice to. Very dream like.
Good job! I will watch more
Good stuff Ryan.
I really liked it. I loved the spinning wheel and the overlapping shadows.

By the way, I really want to maraud at midnight. Let me know next time you do it.

I really liked it. It was very surreal. I liked the part where the camera was locked straight down onto the front wheel. It is much better than the crappy little slide show I slapped together for Midnight Marauders.

Keep doing more, you will only get better.
