For the love of all that is decent and holy, please SEARCH the forums before POSTING A DISCUSSION.

There are far too many repostings of the same information lately. Make the search bar your first stop please.

Oh thank you...thank you.....

Lee.

You should swap the title and the first line of the post. People have to click through to get the intended message
That limits the curiosity factor, but you have a great point Root.

How about this?

less screaming. more talking. go raiders.
now we're talking!
Does it really matter???? Having the ability to ask a question and get an answer from like minded people is better then worrying about what forum it is placed in. Some things are obvious like how to fix a flat for some people it is the same for posting not as obvious. Recieving much needed info is tho
curt
It does matter. It is also a forum rule and a request for tidyness. Searching the forum before posting a redundant topic is a long-standing protocol in just about every forum that exists, and while we ask this as a courtesy to users of the site, some sites take that infraction very seriously.

Not repeating posting topics is better for receiving the "much needed info" you point out since repeated postings don't display the useful answers and much needed info that has already been discussed. This allows knowledge on the subject matter to be shared easier. Reposting the same topic later without searching reduces the helpfulness of any forum as it negates and ignores the knowledge on the subject that has already been shared.

It isn't that hard Curt. Just search before posting.

Tyranny!
i'm not sure how editable the forum layout is, but why not just adding the sarch button to the main page?
It is, isn't it? Look at the top right of your page.
In fact, it is in the same spot on every page, not just the home page

I don't know either, but if possible, that would be a good idea. I will investigate.....

You are quite correct. It is on every page at the top right. The format does not allow it to be anymore prominent than it is, but perhaps not everyone realizes that this is the search button you can use to search for forum topics and more. It does not require going to the Forum to search prior to posting.

Here is a pic of what we are talking about:
