I ended up with a Varsity frame that I really have no use for. It is a diamond frame that's pretty much the same as this one, pretty sure it's the same size. It has the stem, bars, brakes and levers, 1pc cranks, and I'm pretty sure it has the front and rear derailleurs. No wheels, seatpost or saddle. It's a heavy tank of a frame with horizontal drops. Free to a good or not-so-good home.

Send me a message if you want dibbs. Pick up in Logan Square at night. If there are no takers, I'll donate to Working Bikes along with some other bikes n stuff.

Thanks,
PD

whats the condition of said parts?
Frame looks about like the one in the pic, maybe not quite as nice. The previous owner dumped it saying the front wheel hub was siezed, so I'd imagine that was the reason the frame was dumped. This is definitely as-is, but the 1 pc cranks on these are super easy to overhaul.
I have a friend in need of a bike as his last was recently stolen. If it is still available I would love to take it off your hands. I can overhaul the crank set myself for him. You would be doing a poor college student a great favor. Message me if it is still available and how we might transact. I would come pick it up with a car outfitted with a bike rack.
I have one like that. I'd like to know if you happen to no what year it's. I'd take it. Just came across my mate for my wife. Had to rebuild from ground up,but at least the frame was good. I do like to collect those old schwinns. Mine's 72' her's 73'.The onr in that picture looks like a 74' & up. I could pick it anytime you would like... Thanks
Update: I took a closer look at the frame, overall condition is fine, but area of decals is a bit discolored. Frame appears straight and roadworthy. Cranks gummy but spin without play or binding, brakes/levers/shifters/derailleurs all operable but need TLC. This thing needs an overhaul, a good bath and a set of wheels to roll again. Decals are the same lettering style as on my 74 LeTour and in the pic linked above.

I left a comment for mattbikes1 a few hours ago (couldn't figure out how to PM here), but didn't not hear back as of yet. So buddaa38, if you're still interested after that description then let me know. djeasygo at hotmail dot com is the email address.
Check your email Don. I am still interested if you have not already made prior arrangements.
I will post pics of the varsity after it has been worked on. Thanks again.
