Has anyone read anything on the effect of high voltage power line transmission over bike paths, on cyclists?  I always hear about high brain cancer rates in children and the elderly living in subdivisions built near power lines, and my route to work takes me under some tall buzzers for at least a mile, daily.  I'm wondering if I shouldn't line my hat with some sort of semi-conductor material...

They say to reduce the tingling shock of the static electrical charge that builds up in your body while riding near high voltage lines you should remove any gloves and steer your bike while holding onto the 'metal' portion of the handlebars to discharge the voltage into the ground. And always wear a cycling helmet that is approved safe for microwave use. I thought everyone knew this by now. \`~'/ . . .

Not really experiencing the shocks; a little more concerned about repeat exposure via the magnetic flux.

A lot of "Inconclusive" 2001 study references at this site, re: health effects of EMF exposure.  Still, better something than nothing.  Thanks Tom, this link will give me some terminology to base searches upon.

You're welcome John. Good luck in your search.
All kidding aside, I don't think that l would be comfortable, health wise, if I had to cycle under the high voltage transmission lines every day.
