Just completed Loop to Park Forest tonight

Well around 7pm i decided that i did not feel like rushing to the train so i decided to ride home from 60 e. van buren to by house in park forest by the time i left it was 8pm and I had decided to take LFP to 75th, from there a straight shot down to 95th. At 95th i head west to stony island. i took that as far south as i could then headed west a lot more to halsted. from there i took halsted all the way to Homewood IL (175th) i then cut through homewood to dixie hwy then cut through chicago heights to western and then western in to park forest. finally i was home

i did this all on my converted fuji sports 12 that has a gear ratio 56/14 with a full bag on my back. i just put my head down and sprinted till i was out of the city

I have done a ride from homewood to the city but I left @ 4:00 am not 7:00 pm

Wow, that's quite the ride(hooray for the "Halsted Highway"). From your route, it sounds like you might have gone through some rough neighborhoods, especially given the time of day and weather.

Did you feel safe on the way home? And how many miles total was it? Looks to be like at least 30 from following your route on Mapquest.

once i was out of the city i felt safe, from 75th to riverdale i did not feel safe at all. i just put my head down and kept riding. it really was a sprint from 75th till like 115th balls out. i heard a few "damn, crazy ass white boy." or similar a few times. didnt have any real problems till harvey. (150th) but yeah it was dark as hell out when i went through the southside. does anybody have any recomendations for a better route?

Recommendations for a better route? Yes, a train car being pulled (or pushed) by a big blue locomotive with Metra written on the side. :)

Hey Brian, I didn't get to look it up but check that goroo (garbage name) site. I woulda stayed on LSP longer but nothing in that area is really safe. Glad you made it dude! ;-)
