I'm starting to work on a campaign to promote shopping and dining by bike in Evergreen Park, where there are many businesses on 95th St. that are accessible by bike from nearby bike-friendly streets, but where there are almost NO bike racks. :( Also, parking near many of these businesses is limited and often full.

When you are patronizing businesses that you currently visit by bike (or would like to if there was a place to lock up your bike), talk to the owner or manager about how many more customers could be served by adding bike racks. Then put your money where your mouth is and patronize these businesses by bike, and bring your friends.

Who wants to work with me on a campaign to promote shopping and dining by bike in Evergreen Park? This is one of my goals for 2009.

Who want to propose other areas for a shop and dine by bike campaign?

a few months ago there was a village meeting in Oak Lawn to come up with a plan to bike lane the village, and interconnect to nearby villages. We got together and highlighted the best streets to take to go between business areas, scholls shops etc. Were waiting on the next phase whatever that turns out to be... You may want to contact Evergreen Park to see if they want to do the same thing. I think Reps from Chicagoland Bicycle Federation were there as well. Good luck! See you at Park Schwinn ;)
Excellent! BTW, it was great to see 99th repaved last year - one of the best east-west bike routes in the area, IMO.

I ride both 95th and 99th regularly as my Parents live in Oak Lawn and Grandmother in Evergreen... I worked at Park Schwinn all thru high school! Still stop in there to say hi to John...
