Save the dates for next month's public outreach meetings for south side bike routes:

Monday 4/11 - Vodak-East Side public library, 3710 E 106th St, 5:30-7:30 pm
Tuesday 4/12 - Pullman visitors' center, 11141 S Cottage Grove, 5:30-7:30 pm
This is a follow-up to a previous round of public outreach that happened a few years ago to develop Streets for Cycling 2020, a plan for a citywide network of bike routes.
The focus for these 2 meetings is safe access to Pullman and the area around Big Marsh. The National Monument designation of Pullman and improvement of Big Marsh, combined with lobbying for more equitable distribution of bike routes in underserved communities got to where we are now.
One of the important pieces of safe access to both Pullman and Big Marsh is getting a safer way for folks using the red line to get from 95th St. station to southbound bike routes. Many people are likely to be using the red line to reach Big Marsh.
We also need to improve safety along the section of Stony Island adjacent to Big Marsh, as well as 103rd St. (eastbound and westbound) and 122nd-Torrence to reach the path along 126th for southeast access.
Please share this info with anyone you know who is interested in safer bike access to these areas, and encourage them to share it.
FYI - CDOT tends to do these sessions primarily in an open house format, where maps are available to view, CDOT folks are available to talk with, and there are comment sheets for input. My understanding is that part of each meeting will be in a presentation format.

Have any friends who don't ride much?  Do you want them to join you on a group ride to see why you ride.  Major Taylor Chicago has a ride aimed at bringing non-cyclists together with cyclists so that they can enjoy the ride too.  We have a series of rides aimed at such people.  Bring them out with you to join in all the fun.  For details and to RSVP, please click this link.  http://www.eventbrite.com/e/mtc3-developmental-ride-series-kick-off...

If you're willing to cross Madison, there is a great play called RIDE set in a bike shop that deals with all aspects of riding bikes here in Chicago. Shows are at The Den Theatre in Wicker Park. Get more info at www.undertherugtheatre.com

I hope the ride went well.  I was planning on doing it but wimped out due to the cold and the distance I would have to cover to get to the start from Bridgeport.

  Next time, I swear!

Today is our day. Today belongs to us. Today belongs to our movement. Today, we symbolically ride bicycles to pay homage to our ancestor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Let's ride...
