Allow me to suggest that the route run up Sheridan--nice new pavement on a normally bike-hostile stretch of road. Those folks could use a little "Happy Friday" action, and there're some nice little hidden beaches north of Loyola Park:

Hey Todd, I could be interested. I'll come up with a plan, but don't count on me until I do. Probably something musical: guitar, laptop, singing...who knows...

Anybody here up for doing live performance on the next ride? I've been taking performers regularly on the downtown mass for a couple years and would like to start doing it on the neighborhood masses too.

I prefer cm regulars, but if any of you have friends who don't ride but think would enjoy coming out and performing for us, put me in touch with them.

There are a lot of possibilities for performance, from playing an instrument or singing, dj'ing, leading a sing-a-long or karaoke, standup/sit down comedy, or perhaps doing a map/ride with narration.

Two average sized people can ride comfortably on my trailer and I also have a wireless beltpack transmitter which can plug into a mic or an instrument. So with a little planning and the addition of a tandem or a rickshaw, a 3 piece band can work (more if some play acoustic). I can optionally mount a table on my trailer for a keyboard or a laptop and can even provide some AC power.

I put up a donations can and whatever is collected is 100% for the performers. It's typically modest but almost always enough to buy a post ride drink or bus fare. And if we take your bike with on the trailer you shouldn't need bus fare.

Thanks for leading Andrew, it was a great ride. I especially like the stretches through the parks.

50 rider count. For the record, maybe not previously posted, I think last month was 68.
Two dozen stickers turned out great and were well received. Map final drawing and printing went great and Marty paid.
John Tebbens speaking from LightWeights was INTENSE. He sold me on the superior quality and brilliant design of the product (available at Performance and others), and spoke on other safety advice. Tony (in cast) spoke eloquently on his dooring, and all got a sense that one needs even greater than great alertness to avoid this great risk.
I handed out the maps to all with the story that nobody had pre-ridden, and we weren't certain of some parts, and soliciting help where any had knowledge. And wonderfully, that's just how it went! The collaborative quality of this ride was outstanding, and it was a joy to see the group repeatedly make quick and correct decisions. Taking some responsibility, I committed to staying frontly, and alert, and listen closely to advice. One after another some one or few rode to the front, lead a chunk, then said "it's all yours" basically. I'd thought we could work out the route in progress, but with several dozen riders that's gets messy, but only happened a few times. Kudos to Julie leading to the green house, to ? for a perfect presentation on said house, to Susan for much of the next chunk to and through the river path, to Bob Kastigar for to and through Peterson park, and to rowdy many who helped own Peterson for the homestretch. With the parks, and the river, we really saw a whole lot of green, as planned, and ended at multiple food and drink options, not far from start.
