Reminding, I who was primary NSCM route maker for years, moved to Wicker Park in November 2013. It's up to y'all next gen now. The last few years were amazing and I recommend simply trying any of the dozens of great routes archived on MassUp.us
Have fun and HAPPY FRIDAY!
Feb NSCM: http://www.thechainlink.org/events/north-side-critical-mass-765
I can't come. Like the pizza idea. Go, lead some riders there, take pictures for us weaklings.
Just a suggestion for Feb. ride we can end at Maria's Pizza. They serve heart shape pizza. Since Valentine's day is coming.
We intrepid six did find Everclear in Chicago, though I'd thought it impossible and half the riders are non-drinkers, then went for Mexican food then to Turtle Racing at Big Joe's (1818 W Foster, hourly from 10pm). There's a short video of that here. Here's the <9mi route.
Oh,
reason I can't join is because I'm going camping to Blue Mound State Park in Wisconsin. Going to try & catch some of the nice colors before that 4 letter word touchdown here! :-(
Hey Andrew,
Wish I could go! Great ideal Turtle races !! Love it!! Used to go every Wednesday back in the younger wilder days. Would bet shots who would win!! Sweet...
As to me I might be able time to time not like it used to be. Unfortunately I'm really trying hard this up coming year to find a location for us ( Albany Park Bikes (A.P.B.) ! There's Rachel who might be able to .. Even Scott. I do think that if everybody helps it will continue! What a Sweet Ride!!!
Hey dear massers, I who've been primary NSCM route maker / ride leader for years now, have recently moved to Wicker Park. It may become more difficult for me to attend every northside mass, especially in winter, so start preparing for independence.
Wish I could think of anyone who's even semi-regular, who owns a Droid or iPhone, could take over ridecasts. Sol? Karen?? Tony???
I *DO* expect to make it this Friday though, and am proposing a ride to Binny's in Skokie, then turtle races at Big Joe's.
Unless anyone has other wants/needs, I'd like to do my long-planned HEART shaped route this Friday. 13 miles round-trip. Forecast says low 70s, clear and still.

June 2013 North Side Critical Mass (NSCM) was pretty magical as usual. Now in our fifth year.

Route summary and bits I remember:
Decent turnout, over 20. Fair weather, upper 50s.
I gave out a bag of fortune cookies that were more like advice and praise cookies. BK brought cookies too.
Long stretch of Granville W.
Northshore sculpture path N., dozens of amazing works.
Pause at beautiful new riverside landing.
Long stretch of Greenwood W.
Got to Binny's 6 minutes before closing, for boozes not sold in Chicago.
Long stretch of smooth new Skokie Valley Trail S. A flat was fixed.
Long stretch of Oakton E. despite cars. Past huge mini-golf.
Through James Park. Through Rogers Park.
Pause in Indian Boundary park, zoo and huge playground.
Long stretch of Pratt E to lake.
Slow beach ride passing the newly blank Artists Wall.
Stop at Act One on Morse. Beer stock-up.
Back to Pratt pier, hanging past midnight, sweet jazz tunes.
