Eat to ride, ride to eat

Calling all foodies, gastronomes, and gluttons alike! I'm proposing a monthly get-together that rides to a destination that offers delectable comestibles. Destination decided by the group. Initial ideas are Pizza Art, Hero's, Smoque. Endless options!

Hell, the ride last Sunday netted me around 27 miles round trip. I'm more than cool with that if everyone else is!

A couple months ago I rode Lee Diamond's Portage Park architectural tour, cruising up Milwaukee to get there. On the way there I saw some really excellent-looking Eastern European restaurants. I think it was around Milwaukee/Belmont. Just another hat in the ring, I guess. How far is far enough/too far?

Yep. The Hopleaf doesn't start serving until 5. But it's a pretty damn fine place to both eat n' drink. Belgian-themed goodness rocks.

Also, the BBQ joint doesn't open until 4PM. Does anyone have any other ideas? The Whole Foods on Peterson and Cicero has some pretty kickass BBQ (they have an in-house smoker); we could always grab some goodies from there and eat outside in the wacky February warmth...

FWIW I've never been to Hopleaf. I understand they don't start serving food until 5PM, though.

There are lots of neat places along Clark Street. Are we going on the week end? Car traffic might be lighter.

Thursday night might be good for BBQ. The temp won't be as warm, but there isn't any rain predicted ( yes, rain in fucking Feb.). I can't go Saturday. Am I being draconian to ask you not go to the Honky Tonk? pleez! lot's of good eats out in Chi-town

I wonder if they have bbq groundhog... just for the symbolism of destroying that shadow-viewing rodent. grumble.

(ok, I don't *really* hate them)

Is the plan to try that barbecue joint again? I would be interested for sure, although I do have to study this weekend so I can't be out all day.
