Eat to ride, ride to eat

Calling all foodies, gastronomes, and gluttons alike! I'm proposing a monthly get-together that rides to a destination that offers delectable comestibles. Destination decided by the group. Initial ideas are Pizza Art, Hero's, Smoque. Endless options!

I'd totally do it, except for my only bike is a road bike with 23s on them. I really don't trust them when there's snow or ice on the ground.

I was with a group that did a ride last fall we called "Vuelta a Tacos." We hit 6 different places, from hole in the wall taquerias to nicer sit-down joints. That was a great day, and the nice thing about tacos is that they're small, cheap, and you can eat several of them without getting too weighed down. I'd be into doing something like that sometime.

I when I said you were "right", I meant as in getting more folks to show up! Hopefully the warmer climes will pull the folks out of the woodwork. We have 44 members, after all!

Y'all are totally right. Jonathan and I did a ride last Sunday to Pilsen, where we were met with an unexpectedly closed Honky Tonk BBQ. Luckily, we hit a killer Mexican joint more or less around the corner, and had a great time.

Yesterday I was kind of zoned out and unthinkingly blew right past the totem pole. At that icy stretch just south of Fullerton I stopped. Unbeknownst to me, Hector was on my tail and caught me. I didn't realize he had waiting at the totem pole. So we rode just a little south of Soldier Field, then headed back north.

It was Chainlink serendipity, I tell ya!

I'm hoping that as soon as the weather gets consistently nicer, we can finally have an actual ride/food event. But to be fair, the group got started around November and the winter isn't too conducive for group rides to random restaurants.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - well Joe, this may be, from my own observation, a very ineffective group in actually going to get food. ;-) Two attempts have been made, one ended with one person actually eating anywhere, and the 2nd was this weekend and no ride report was ever posted. Anyone actually go?

To be honest, I'm more inclined to move the ride to tomorrow. The weather's so proper today that I'd rather get a lot of miles in, and not get interrupted and slowed down by food. Is this cool with everyone...?

12-12:30 tomorrow (sunday)?

What was the planned time again, for today?

That's fine with me, too - Waveland to northerly Milwaukee is only 5-6 miles, I think.

I know a ... very casual ... Chinese place down at the end of the LFP; their hot & sour soup is probably the best I've had in Chicago.
