I would be up for Hot Doug's anytime. One of the few places that is worth the hype.

Here are some suggestions off the top of my head...

1. Meet at the North Branch Trail's trailhead at Devon and Milwaukee, ride the trail up to Botanic Gardens, then over to Highland Park to eat at either Walker Brothers or Once Upon a Bagel (which despite the lame name is a legit Jewish deli). It would be about a 50 mile ride round trip.

2. Spacca Napoli at Sunnyside and Ravenswood (I could walk there actually, but could be a nice ride for some and the pizza is great).

3. Hot Doug's (been there once, it's actually worth the hype).

4. Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston (if we want to go vegetarian and/or vegan).

5. Smoke Daddy in Wicker Park for BBQ.

6. Demera for Ethiopian (Broadway and Lawrence).

7. Cafe Iberico for Tapas (you get a lot of good food and sangria for not a lot of money).

Awww! I had planned on attending the NSCM last night, but I got sidetracked by libations with co-workers! We HAVE to get to Pilsen for some BBQ soon.

The Red Barrel I belive is between Pulaski and Kedzie on the north side of Archer. I worked in that area in the mid -80's and we used to go there. It was okay. I heard Old Warsaw is good and I've been to the Red Apple several times, the last 2 years for the Chicago Cycling Club's Jan 1st ride.

listen, i just wanted to say hello and giveth me food!

a suggestion? there's this crazy restaurant i think south on Archer (south side) that a few us refer to as the 'red barrel' restaurant as it has a red barrel. apparently it's like polish or something? i haven't gone. it was recommended to me as a food adventure. i hear you have to pull a string to get in, but that is an idea.

cryptic food haunts anyone?

also i'm pretty down with anything eastern european.
or that involves taste-y brews.
