World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike (or other person powered) event where participants ride en masse for the dual purpose of bringing attention to people powered transport and promoting positive body image. For a great overview see WikiPedia.

The event is bare-as-you-dare; anything from body paint to underwear to fanciful costumes are encouraged. Due to legal restrictions in Chicago, full frontal nudity is at your own risk, but large numbers of participants do go all out. Large-scale body painting is typically available pre-ride, and personal expression is encouraged. Cyclists familiar with Critical Mass (which is massive in Chicago) can simply see this as a special clothing optional additional June mass.

Chicago's past events included many hundreds of cyclist and numerous inline skaters, and covered over a dozen miles of high visibility city areas. In 2008 the 5th annual event drew a staggering 1700 riders! Blessed by decent summer weather in a great cycling city, the event has grown into a fantastic rolling celebration, with similarities to other major alternative parades world-wide. Participants often describe it as a transcendent group experience, personally transforming, and beyond superlative.

This CL group is intended for unmoderated chatter and thread following. For announcements make sure to also join the mailing list at http://ChicagoNakedRide.org/join

Feels like the seventh-ish time, apparently he doesn't get my replies. I recommended WNBR-C chat or forum, but they see little action. Anyone else, feel free to email or call this person and point him here, or somewhere. Thanx!
"I will be in Chicago on June 13th for Neocon at the Mart. I arrive around 10am and need help getting to the ride, renting a bike, and geting the bike back to the rental company and me back to my hotel (dressed) I have tried to post here several times and my posts have not been posted. I would be willing to donate, but I do need a bit of help here and so far it looks like I will not end up riding. reach me at rrosenfield@columbus.rr.com"

Hey, I was checking the site for a friend and the page that says where it starts is broken. Where will the ride start?

Fundraiser tentatively planned as BBQ casual party donation and goods drop off. Maybe Sunday June 7th. Maybe followed by evening full moon ride far north. Details to follow.

On the topic of out of towners, Bobby's Bike Hike is going to do a naked ride weekend rental special? Can y'all pass word around and come as a group? Charge it like a tour, provide a leader... Martin?

Thanx so much everyone. Items in work. All is well. Though it may seem an odd priority I must bring up something recurring to me, is to convert some people's urgent need to come, into other support forms. For example if you don't own a bike, come to viewing point (TBA) and cheer. If you are way in a burb, just donate then tell your friends at work the next day that you did. If you are geographically more distant, you need to just do something locally. This is not NYE in NYC. In years past we dealt with this in the form of people driving in for the ride (and hence parking issues), and now London is chattering about people flying in for theirs! So let's emphasize, if you can't come with a bike (or skates etc) and participate fully WITH EASE (ie. low fuel use) please find another way to express your support (PayPal form on home site!) Sorry if sounds negative, but our streets are only so big... so do consider doing your part by not coming, but using the donate form instead! (I'm not even sure it still works?!?)
