Chicago's newest bike path, the Saugansh Trail, Valley Line Multi-Use Trail Project Completed Crews have completed work on the Valley Line Trail project. The one mile long, multi-use trail was constructed on a former railroad embankment located just east of Kostner Avenue between Bryn Mawr Avenue and Devon Avenue in the Sauganash community.

Also known as "Marge's Mile" after Alderman Margaret Laurino, 39th Ward, who will lead the ride and provide historical notes of interest about the surrounding neighborhood.

So far, no rain scheuduled, bit just in case check the Alderman's web site, http://www.aldermanlaurino.com/

Chicago to Green Bay is now confirmed for next May. It would help if you rode a folding bike in anticipation of the return trip.

Anyone interested in a trip to IN Dunes the weekend of July 24/25/26th? My friend and I were thinking of doing it in conjunction with a trip to Whiting, IN for Perogifest--haven't decided if we should just do a day trip or camp overnight.

This doesn't say what size it is, but if you're interested in touring here's everything you need:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/1247092593.html

This bike is ready to tour. Today. Front and back fenders, A solid low rider front rack with ortlieb panniers and a set of large Novara panniers in the back. Its running 700c wheels with concave touring rims and Campagnola record hubs. Also has a freshly broken-in brooks leather saddle. Comes with a bike computer, 2 handlebar bags (one waterproof, storage, one for maps) And i'll throw in supplies as well: Allen wrench, Frame pump, 3 water bottles, tent, water filter, camp stove (and fuel), sleeping bag, two tarps and a set of cross-country touring maps that are worth 100 dollars themselves. I'll take 1200 OBO.

I guess someone got sick of touring?

I'd be interested in doing a short tour on 4th of July weekend. Last fall I was thinking of doing a short circle tour from Chicago to McHenry via Metra, taking the GIT west and camping at Rock Cut State Park. 2nd day biking west along the GIT and camping at Apple Canyon State Park. 3rd day heading north and camping at Governor Dodge State Park. Final day heading back east towards Madison via the Military Ridge Trail and then taking the Greyhound back to Chicago. Needless to say I didn't do that ride, but have thinking about getting it done this year as I have more time to waste.

Anyone want to do a Fourth of July weekend tour? I'm going to have a four day weekend. If you can't go, do you have any suggestions for me on destination?

Just back from my first real tour. Chicago to Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids to Muskegon to Milwaukee (by ferry) to Chicago. It was great!
