Hi garden people!
I have some impatiens and peppers sprouting indoors-- got to get some 'maters started this week. I'm leaninig towards sowing everything else directly outdoors this year.
I've cleared my bed and I'm the process of installing an apiary in our community garden. For the garden, I tend to wing things as well, but I know a lot of people have seedlings that they started. My bees come-in in 2 weeks!
Hey Gardeners, what are you all up to? I feel I should be amending soil or tending to something for my summer backyard raised bed, but have kind of winged it in the past two years of having it. Any early April tips?
I wish them luck, but wish they could just say "we're researching this area because it's close to where we live."
Members will help decide the ideal location, but we are researching the area approximately between Foster and Irving Park Avenues and Western and Ashland Avenues because it contains a high density of families and schools, as well as a diverse group of educated and active citizens. This general area also is currently underserved by large grocery stores. Ultimately, the foundation of the co-op will be families and individuals who support, shop at, and grow with the store and the community it engenders
On Chicago's northside there is an initiative going to establish a food coop. Two informational meetings are scheduled in the upcoming weeks:
TOMORROW, at Northerly Island (cut and pasted from FB):
I have 2 tickets for FACT's Fund-a-Farmer fundraiser tomorrow, October 24th 7-9pm. It is at Uncommon Ground at Devon.
Hear from humane farmers and bid on humanely raised foods.

Hi folks,
Just a placeholder for anyone potentially in need of a new living situation in a few months-- 2600 block of W 24th Place:

Gobs of greenspace to transform as you wish.
I think Christy Weber might be your place for those low-growers.
Duppie, I've been cooking a lot (hope to get back to my winter weight before too long) and bringing large quantities to work and giving them to colleagues/patients. And careful to pick the eggplant before they go all Tchernobyl.
