Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

crushed salt instead of crushed limestone, power lines sizzling in the snow, ice fishing on wolf lake. couldn't finish poutine 2.0. stayed upright the whole 1.9-mile unplowed unsalted heavily-footstepped trail from cottage grove to glenwood thornton!

more:

A strong arctic cold front will move through the area this
afternoon. A brief one to two hour period of westerly wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph is likely behind the front. The strongest winds will likely occur sometime between 2 and 5 pm. After the initial wind surge behind the front, winds will frequently gust to 40 mph through this evening.

so getting up there might not be so bad. plus, pollen counts are "very low".
