Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Yeah, it's bad.  Catastrophically bad.  There's no reason to suspect the same models that show 56% of Californians getting COVID19 will be any less relevant here, especially since 2/3 of the state lives roughly in and around Chicago.  Dense areas are desperate to keep the rate at which new cases arise as low as possible, and this is pretty much the last arrow in the quiver.  Not surprised.

A virus doesnt recognize state borders.

It sounds like there is going to be a news conference at 3 P.M. with Gov. Pritzker announcing 'shelter-in-place' effective on Saturday.  So 5 Rabbits probably won't be staffed.  I wonder if they'll police people riding bikes around to get exercise?  Anyway, I don't think it will be possible to stock up tomorrow...

I've been to 5 Rabbits and the website says they are doing beer-to-go.  There aren't any great ways to get there, but maybe Archer and Cicero aren't as terrible as they usually are during a pandemic.  District is right in my backyard so that one is easy.  What time were you thinking of heading out.

So far, so good, but I eagerly await a healthy conclusion to the reclusion for all.
