Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

If this Oct 19 ride length is holding anyone back from enjoying the beer and food, consider taking the Metra North UP line, jumping off at Lake Bluff (where I live). You can ride the North Shore Bike Path that runs west from the Metra LB station about 4 miles to Libertyville, where you could join the group at Firkin (great food, and great beer selection). I'm in.

I just posted Ride the River Fall Foliage edition for Oct 19. I had to plan this one ahead a bit since I'll be back in school. Farmer's almanac is predicting peak foliage for northern Illinois from Oct 5-21.

The Des Plaines River Trail is going to be really pretty to ride through and all three destinations have great food and beer. Hope y'all can make it out!

I saw a guy ran 107 miles at Ragbrai on the 2nd day.

i think that's the key, beer ≠ brewpubs. Brixie’s would make it 95 miles. something like that?

ok, not 9/7. do you want to lead a ride after your run? or are you thinking this ride? a century after a half marathon?

maybe the 7th, the 21st, or the 28th?

is there beer in joliet?
