Ah well it seems Buckledown isn't open yet either! They may be open by November but maybe not. So if it isn't and we stop at Brixie's then that means no actual brewpubs on this ride. Perish the thought! Serge you'll have to work your magic! Either that or we end at Revolution's tap room or some other brewpub in the city. I'm good with that too.

If you can arrange sneak previews then I can arrange to include them on the route! 

Date would be Nov 23 and even then I have to wait until we're closer before posting the ride since that will be approaching final exams.

I wanted to continue on to Slapshot after Buckledown but they replied that their taproom won't be open until next year. Haven't heard back from Smokey Row yet. Brixies looks like a good stop too and it's less than 2 miles from Buckledown. 

I like that idea as well Duppie! Might save that for another day though. For this ride I wanted to do the opposite and take Metra out then ride back into the city. Most rides I've been on have been ride out then Metra back or Metra to Metra. Plus my last experience attempting to board a train at Flossmoor wasn't so pleasant.

Or bike all the way to Joliet. Then take the old plank trail to Flossmoor.

On the way there stop at Tribes Alehouse in Mokena

The Centennial trail is nice, but closed in a couple of sections. The I&M is a nice ride. There is a good beer bar not far off your proposed route : http://brixies.com/

It is bike friendly, I've know of groups of 7 or more cyclists to stop there after a ride on these paths.

I'm also looking for ideas on where to stop along the way. Destination would be Buckledown Brewing in Lyons but that's 30 miles so we'll need to stop for lunch. Nevin's Brewing in Plainfield looked good but too far out of the way. Gordon Biersch looks too much like a Buffalo Wild Wings to me. So far best stop for lunch I can find is the Tap House Grill in Lemont. They've got a good beer list. 

Proposed route.  We would then ride back into Chicago from Lyons. 

What do you guys think about the ride and places to stop?

Are the I&M Canal and Centennial Trails in the SW burbs any fun to ride?

I'd like to take the Metra out to Joliet then ride back to Chicago but I've never ridden those trails. Thinking of squeezing this in on Sat Nov 23.

thinking now i might do the North Shore Century after all. not sure about 50, 62, or 70. probably i'll ride up. probably on the early side, i'd like to be back by 3. it's kind of pricey, but it should be a beautiful morning. and i don't see any cbes options. anybody else interested?

I'm riding to navy pier sat for world music fest at the beer garden @ 1pm, then to conway center 1104 s wabash for another act @ 3pm, then on to Logan center 915 e 60th st ,via   the lakefront trail, for a show @ 6pm. great music and drink. meeting at buckingham fountain @ 12:15 leaving 12:25. I'm riding a red cruiser w/ a white basket JD
