Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

I'm pretty sure they did.  But after 95 miles and a long day of drinking, I was happy to just have a couple Octoberfests.  Plus I'm cheap.

Comment by bobweiser on September 28, 2017 at 5:46pm

ah, i see what you're saying. did they not charge for non-Octoberfest beers, too?

Comment by Steve A on September 28, 2017 at 3:45pm

I thought last year the $10 ticket got you unlimited Octoberfest beer, plus the stein.  Now it looks like the first one is $10, but after that it costs $8 for refills.  Free to get in - but what is getting in without drinking beer?????

steve, it's great that you'll be joining again. but didn't the price go down? i had the idea it was going to be free, though maybe they'd be accepting donations.

Definitely planning on attending.  Looks like the price at Revolution went up this year.

for some reason it's taking longer than usual to approve, anybody else up for a beer/food/miles/hills challenge this saturday? if so, join me for the Ninth Step Double-Oktoberfest Almost-Century

had a blast at the north shore century. which i somehow managed to finish with an average of 17.5 despite an Egg McMuffin® at the 2nd rest stop, a burger at the 3rd, a hot dog at the 4th, and pizza at the 5th.

actually it's no mystery, the key was getting pulled along by the fast packs roving the course. at one point i was drafting a guy, he was doing maybe 20, a pack came along, we went along with them, they were doing like 25, and then we hit a downhill. max speed: 31.1.
