Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Up-to-date map (with a list, postal- and web-addresses and phone numbers, where available). Five hundred thirty (530!) so far.

The lazy option seems appealing to me. Is the Lagunita's brew pub opening delayed again? I thought it was supposed to open in June.

I will ask the owner of yet another brewery, may be he'll be open for the idea of us paying him a visit . . .

Ah good to know Lunar isn't so hot.  I won't visit Solemn Oath on account of their refusing to fill growlers from other breweries.

I'm leaning toward lazy anyway since I want to try Dryhop and Revolution is oh so close.

I don't know yet whether I'll be off that Friday.
If yes, and if Carol is also off, the lazy version would be preferable.
If she's working, I'll go to Church ;)
. . . Not sure I want to re-visit LunaR, though.

I'd like to plan something for Friday July 5th and want to see if anyone's interested in either option:

Ride Option --> IPP to Lunar Brewing and Church Street Brewing (tap room only open on Fridays)

Lazy Option --> Lunch at Dryhop then head over to Revolution's Tap Room which should be re-opened by then.

Anyone interested in either?

Pecatonica Prairie Path update. The Winnebago County part of the trail (from Rockford to just west of Pecatonica: http://goo.gl/maps/9JJVe) is about to be completed. From that point to Freeport . . . not yet, and it is unknown at that point when anything will be done there.

To wash smoked (or salted dried) fish with beer is very popular in Russia and Ukraine.
Now you can enjoy One Trick Pony Russian style! ;)

Always fun . . . but not this time.
