Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

calumet park closed, wolf lake closed. burnham greenway open, monon trail open. FFF open for takeout beer & spirits & merch. 18th street open for takeout beer & spirits & food.

struck by mask fashion on the south side: wearing your mask under your chin. reminded me of bike riders hanging their helmets from their handlebars.

Bike the Streets! The State of Illinois still says: Yes, go outdoors for fresh air and exercise. The LFP and the 606 are nice, but regular streets are a treat now with so many cars staying at home.

A few people declined but you were the only 'yes'. Thanks for understanding.

we'll postpone, and the f-12 will remain possible:

If the ride is postponed into the next month (e.g., a 4/25 ride postponed to 5/2), the scheduled month (in this case, April) gets credit.

i can't say i was looking forward to that big wind, anyway.

do you happen to remember, had anyone said they were coming? if so, did you notify them?

I’m disappointed, but I understand. Better safe than sorry. I don’t know if it would work to ride with a mask.

I realize you are all adults but there is concern and responsibility I feel about this and didn't feel right about having the event up. I do recommend you cancel to keep everyone safe and wait until it is safe to go on a group ride again.

A good test for myself moving forward with events - I have asthma and am hiding out to keep myself safe. If I get this virus it would be very dangerous for me. Would I attend this event? No, it would not be safe for me to do so because the risk is too great.

I do hope you continue to use this space to talk and connect and celebrate the day you can go on a ride together finally when it is all over. Stay safe.
