Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

"The next generation of Lyft ebikes is a joy to ride with a sleek form-factor, a smooth and adaptive motor, as well as improved ergonomics to accommodate a larger range of riders. The new modern design integrates personalized features with a built-in speaker system, new lighting effects and improved safety features like on-board sensors and retroreflective paint."

Sixth Step Rain or Shine Divvy-Friendly Ride (rescheduled) this sun., starting from Intelligentsia Broadway at 9!

of course those not interested in a divvy-e adventure and not babying their own bikes would be free to ride them :-)

regular divvys don't come with locks, so we'd need to bring our own for 18th st.

ok, learned a couple things today!

  • the colors on the divvy map are for the 2 divv-e fee zones (together, their "service area")
  • if we end (or start) a divv-e ride in the outer gray zone we get free minutes and they waive their usual "out-of-station parking fee"
  • if we park a divv-e outside their service area, for example over the state line, they dock us $25

so, divv-e as far southeast as we can, divvy to 18th st. and FFF and back to their service area, then divv-e home?

otoh rain when it's 82 is a lot different than rain when it's 42. partly i just got my bike washed and don't want it to get wet. :-)

divv-e? right now there are 8 at E 134th St & S Avenue O, and 3 of them have an estimated range of 16 miles. alas, from there it's 10 miles to FFF. hmm, plain old-fashioned divvy?
