Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

a home brew thing would be great i know a couple of people that do it and i always have a batch of something working.  It would be cool if we could find a BYOB or another cool establishment that would welcome a tasting. I know the owner of the Pecking Order, she might be game, no pun intended. Again a simple function to talk about ideas and up coming rides seems like good place to start planning for the summer.

i like the idea of keeping it local for Febuary, we could then see what the turn out is and possibly bring some routes with us and discuss what the should do in the upcoming months. What date are we talking about for next one? February 2nd?

Chris, What other breweries are there along Milwaukee besides Revolution in Logan Square and Mickey Finns in Libertyville?

All good ideas, so do we want to pick one and plan it out for the February ride? We could possibly plan for a long ride with a shorter route option if the weather is to much...  Ideas? Thoughts? Any one up for making this a monthly thing?

You go Chris! And we here in the OP are more than happy to offer Daughton House (near Blue Line Austin Stop) as a staging area before, during, or after!

Looking forward to joining some rides!  Thanks for setting this up Serge!

Testy, Serge, Testy.

Perhaps this little tidbit from Knoxville

(somewhere along the downtown greenway under a bridge),

will chill you out.
IMHO it would make a dandy mascot/logo for our august group!

I hope 5 Rabbit's Tap House opens early this year. That would be another good one on the south side...

I hear what Duppie's sayin, but we can navigate by streets near the IPP. Also, is 18th St. Brewery in Gary on our list. More info here!

How about Lake Bluff Brewing (approx. 30 mi from the north side) and/or Mickey Finns (37 mi) and/or Tighthead (42 mi)?. Lake Bluff and Micky Finn's are close to Metra lines and all reachable by paved path/roads, so thaw should be less of an issue.

Never been to Tighthead myself, but heard good things about them.

Mickey Finn's is good; Lake Bluff is great. Food options at Lake Bluff are limited.
