Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Have any of you been to Stockholm's or Geneva Ale House? The former is a brewery but the latter has better online reviews and an awesome looking beer list including some local Chicago brews on tap.

I'd like to plan a ride in November along the Fox River and Prairie Trials and these look like good pit stops en route to the Roundhouse.

How amazing does this (finalized) draft list look?

I tried the Emmett's in Palatine on Alex's ride this past Saturday and thought it was really good. I'd be happy to pay them another visit.

I vote no on Solemn Oath. Simply because they refused to fill your growlers when you went. I also don't like businesses that don't take cash as I prefer to not use my debit card.

I agree with Serge. Who cares if there are some "hipsters" in a brewpub?

Comment by Duppie on September 11, 2013 at 10:31am

Sometimes the truth hurts. Solemn Oath is a hipster magnet.

That was an entertaining 20 minutes!

And you guys were nice compared to what I see on the general discussions.
