Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).
Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Perfect! Thanks for the recommendations!
I'm planning on riding to Milwaukee and taking the Amtrak back tomorrow. Leaving Chicago around 7:30am -- should have around 3 hrs to eat/drink/etc when in Milwaukee. If anyone is interested in joining let me know :P
I rode to Milwaukee twice. Its about 90 miles or so depending on where you start. Its doable but if the last train back is 730 then not really much time to see anything in Milwaukee once you get there.
did it once, would do it again, but have other plans sat. and sun. is mother's day
That makes a little more $ense to me. Anyone want to ride there this weekend and take the train back?
I figured on only returning via Amtrak.
Its around $60 round trip to Milwaukee on Amtrak, which is too much IMHO for a day trip.
There is a bus from Milwaukee to Kenosha that you can put your bike on for $5. Its leaves @ 8:50 to catch the last Metra back to Chicago.
Eventually the Benjamin Beer Co. is going to open in downtown Racine. We could ride Metra to Kenosha then ride to Racine and hit breweries along the way to Milwaukee.
also: Winds NNW at 20 to 30 mph.
according to serge's map: 51st ward, urban legend, emmett's, skeleton key, alter. pollyanna would make it 42 mi.
