Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).
Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

i'll ride if you ride
merry xmas, Chicagoland Beer Explorers!
yep, a group of runners was gathering at the clock tower, but no other riders showed up. at least my wallet came with me this time.
took a curve too fast, slipped into an icy puddle of slush, ugh. dried off at burger king and since the wind was with me still made it there before they opened (by 1 min). picked up bottles of BA Alpha Kong and Twisted Engagement, the wind stopped blowing, and finished the day with 66.95, not bad for the 4th-shortest day of the year. reports from the field:
they're plowing the whole LFT again, including around the oak st curve. thank you, city of chicago.
as part of the flyover work, there's now a route directly from the LFT down to the sidewalk under LSD, you don't have to go onto grand, or, heaven forbid, around lake point tower, anymore.
and the monon trail is plowed! ho ho ho!
looking forward to the heat wave predicted for next sat.!
do you know anyone who needs a job?
brr! and good thing! got as far as plaza del lago, stopped for coffee, and discovered i'd forgotten my wallet.
now i don't know. maybe just up to highland park for bbq?
sun. ended up being mid-storm, not post-storm! i missed my old snow tires!
something this weekend? anybody up for an expedition? lake bluff on sat.?
sat. 31°Hi RealFeel® 16° Precipitation 60% Breezy with periods of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, accumulating 1-3 inches; total storm 4-8". sun. Partly sunny but much colder (7°Hi).
