Here's the finished project. Dynohub wheel has been mounted on my 1973 Coffee Sports the end of last week. I've only ridden about 10 miles but it seems to be holding true. I connected the dynohub to a vintage Miller headlight and a modern Busch and Muller tallight. I'm not happy with the brightness if the headlight, but I have other bulbs coming that I'm going to try out. The SA Dynohub output is 6v with only 1bout 1.8 amps.

The technical bits: OK, here goes, standard Raleigh steel rim (Westrick) is what I used. The ERD is 578 mm. If you use a modern wheel it will probably have its ERD listed in the specifications.

I used the spoke length calculator at http://www.bikeschool.com/

I laced both sides 3 Cross. My Dynohub is 36 hole. The hub flange diameter for the large side is 102.5 mm, the small side is 42.5 mm. The Hub Center to Flange Center is 27 mm (both sides). I used DT Spoke washers on the spokes, on the small flange side I used 280 mm spokes, but I have a few that are protruding through the spoke nipple. I'd buy 278 mm if I had it to do again. On the large flange side I used 267 mm. They are the perfect length (if you do a 3 Cross). The keyhole for the spokes on the small flange side is a trial to lace. I used cut off Q-Tips to keep the first set of spokes in the holes until I could start tensioning the wheel. I'll put the wheel on my bike this weekend and try it out.

Sturmey Archer Wheel / Dynohub buildup update: I have my wheel laced and am in the process of truing it. Unlike the typical factory made Raleigh wheel I laced mine cross 3 on both the large and small flange side. The Dynohub is dated 12/78 and is a 36 hole hub. All of my Raleigh Sports (2 1973s and 1 1976) have 36 spoke wheels front and rear
