As of now I have a 70's Raleigh Sprite 5-speed. I also have a 60's Raleigh Colt but that's really a boys bike so I've donated it to my sons who have hung it on their wall of honors in the barn loft.

By the way, I am trying to talk a bike dealer into giving up the Raleigh with the rod brakes he has sitting in his garage doing nothing. Sure I'll be riding around like some little kid on his big brother's bike but I'm willing to take the ride.

I missed getting a generator-lit 3 speed Raleigh by THIS much last year. It was such a good price. Of course a quicker gunslinger snapped it up.

But I now have and adore a 1974 Raleigh Super Tourer. it's been outfitted with drop bars, barcons, and Nitto stem, taking on a more "roadie" build than it originally came as. I just wish it still had the swank matching-color (green) fenders that the old catalogs show that it came with.

I bought this 50s/60s Triumph 3speed off a drunk at 4:30am for fifteen bucks and ghost-rode it home (I was riding a VanDessel at the time (euro wanna be 7speed.) Totally shady deal, but the former owner hadn't touched the barely rideable bike in well over a decade. IMO, if you ain't treating your lady right, you deserve to lose her. Seems like the little lady has gone around the block more that a few times, born in England (haven't been able to fix the date of birth (serial number: 915135)), somehow wound up getting rebuilt by the Turin 'Bike Coop' around 1972 (they used to be at Navy Pier!) The gents at Boulevard Bikes brought her back to life to the tune of $525 dollars, and it was worth every penny. Some douchebag stole my left hand grip in Hyde Park yesterday; maybe it was the karma police?

A Raleigh Supercourse, a Raleigh Gran Sports, three Raleigh Sports (the 1960s one still needs restoring), a Raleigh Superbe and a Raleigh One Way (okay: that's cheating, slightly).

My main one is an early 70's international with hipster approved deep-V rims on old Phils, long reach Dura-Ace center pulls, zero rise swept back bars and a Bl;ackburn knock-off front rack. Otherwise original.

Well, Garth, you've met the Superbe.
That leaves a 1973 Super Course with a 3 speed fixed gear hub, a 1964 Dunelt with a 2 speed fixed gear hub, a 1954 Raleigh Sport or Superbe(my avatar) with Hercules New Yorker shiny bits and an alloy AW hub along with a Miller/Bosch lighting system. The final is a Robin Hood Lenton Sports I got new in 1970. In keeping with nutter tradition, it is fitted with a 1950 Alloy AM hub. In a break with that tradition, it also sports a Cyclo triple cog and Czech Favorit PWB derailluer. It is a suprisingly quick bike.
One that doesn't quite count is my new Eastman Roadster. It's a DL1 wannabe, right down to the Woods valve innertubes. A nice bike on a rough road.

1953 Claud Butler, built for a St. Louis, MO dept. store. Lugless brazed, pinstriped, alloy bar. Been languishing in storage too long and in need of a fixup. Got her at a police auction several years ago. The S.A. SW hub needs a rebuild. Anyone here good at that? i have the repair manuals, but i'm hesitant to start. Hope to have her ridable by May.

If the hub is a really an SW, it isn't worth the time to repair. They were supposed to be a replacement for the AW in 1957 but it wasn't a well thought out design and prone to an early demise. After about 18 months Sturmey pulled them and brought the AW back. If it is an AW, I can rebuild them. They're pretty simple. I may have a correct year AW hub in my stash if your hub is an SW.

Oops, AW... i'm a lousy typist.

If i read the manual properly, the entire innards can be swapped out as a unit.

i have an orphaned '65 AW, but i have no way to know if it's in working order.

We are nearly neighbors, so I can show you how to do the overhaul, not at all that hard to do. Bring the '65 along and do that one, too, if you like. I'm out of town until the 19th, but free after that.
