There is so much wrong with this parking job, the least of which is the sidewalk being blocked for able pedestrians, elderly people, strollers, and kids riding their bikes. Even worse, notice the sign the pedicab is locked to and the fact the the pedicab is parked completely IN the handicap spot. How is a handicap person supposed to maneuver around this bike? What if they need to get to the passenger side? What if they are in a wheel chair that needs to be put in the trunk? If anyone knows this person, kindly inform them of how their actions affect others who are less fortunate than them. There are deer antlers affixed to the handlebars, if that helps you identify the owner of the pedicab. Also, it should be noted about 20 feet away, the sidewalk is much larger and can accommodate a pedicab parked on the sidewalk affixed to a pole there.
As someone with a handicap mother and who once had a temporary handicap placard myself, when I see complete disregard for handicap spaces, it really upsets me. The owner of the space last week affixed a sign to both polls, asking cyclists to not lock their bikes to these polls and to please be considerate given the circumstances. Thus, I think it's safe to assume the person with the pedi-cab is not affiliated with the owner of the handicap spot.
Thank you for any help that you can provide.

All good. Through the powers of Facebook, the owner was identified and a friend of theirs told the owner about it. The pedicab was removed shortly thereafter. The intent was to get the owner to MOVE the bike asap and be more considerate in the future.
h' 1.0 - you seem rather negative, judgmental, have a problem with lots of things, and argue for the sake of arguing, which I don't care to engage in. But for the record, the person who identified the owner of the pedicab is a pedicab owner himself. He told me to feel free to post things like this on their Facebook forum, should I encounter a situation like this in the future. Clearly, he didn't think the "shaming" was such a horrible thing. As another poster pointed out, I have seen shaming on this forum may times over and over.
Wow, nicely done miles. Can you post a link to that FB forum?
The forum worked. Self policing is much better than the other kind. Based on the horns on the handlebars I wonder if the owner has seen the movie Tampopo. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092048/
I say this honestly, though I feel like you'll maybe just disregard it, or twist it.
Your overly-pedantic and aggressive posting in this thread and in other threads is extremely off-putting at times--to the point where your posts suggest that you feel you are the appointed decider of what is, or is not, appropriate content to post on this site.
I read the OP's post, and I personally didn't draw a single one of the conclusions you have drawn from the post. It was pretty apparent that this has been an ongoing problem, and it was pretty apparent through the follow-up post that the owner had ignored a sign asking the conduct to stop. I also fail to see where this was a denouncement of the pedicab (or cycling) movement as a whole, rather than a focused complaint on one individual's conduct at a defined spot. The OP even took time to explain why the situation personally bothered them so much--though no explanation was really necessary as the conduct in question was clearly wrong. A person took the time to seek out the owner both here and on other online forums, and, as a result, the conduct has apparently stopped. Yet you somehow still find a way to fault the person who took initiative to make a positive change in their community. Maybe it's not how you would have done it, but that doesn't make the actions wrong.
I've tried to be engaged in this online community, but it's hard when you--and a few select others--make these seemingly random distinctions as to when it's okay to discuss a topic, and when getting riled up or posting something amounts to what you have labeled as "public shaming" or harmful to the bicycle "community" at large. It would be one thing if you were consistent in what you denounce, but, to be quite honest, you're not.
TL;DR version: Start acting with a little more civility towards people on here, and stop trying to be the final arbiter of what is and what is not appropriate to discuss for the community, and maybe there will be more than a handful of posts to read on this site each day.

Really, my biggest problem was with the speed at which the dog pack here is willing to jump on a shred of meat and bash the heck out of the pedicab owner with almost no information other than a few photos taken from carefully chosen vantage points. Has this been an ongoing thing? Has communication with the owner via a note on the 'cab already been attempted? Has there been time for a response? Would be good to know if this is a case of someone coming home drunk once in the middle of the night and not realizing what type of sign it is, or a sworn enemy of the disabled. With the dishonesty of the original post a close second. First she made it seem like a courteous note had been posted, then a few minutes later the note had threatened to cut the lock, then the person could have locked 20 feet away, then that became 5 city lots (=125 feet).
Somebody posts a blanket condemnation of all pedicab owners to this thread and it gets a complete pass? Sounds 100% fine to you?
You seem to want to ignore the fact that there are multiple things, potentially dangerously, wrong with that parking job other than the fact that the passenger compartment is clearly within the street space allocated for the disabled. You really seem to be trying to pull out daemons that don't exist from in between the lines from what was obviously supposed to be one individual reaching out to the community to solve the issue. I also have no idea why you seem to want to be so overly accommodating to making excuses for this pedicab driver given you yourself admit a lack of personal knowledge about the incident and I very much doubt the same concessions would be given to a motorist parking in street space reserved for the handicapped. Seriously, barking at OP like a guard dog is an overreaction to whatever nerve about pedicabs got rubbed here and the derail was just terribly nonconstructive.

The OP was clearly framed to give that impression, but I think you should read it again. There is no actual information in this thread as to how long this particular pedicab was locked there.
