1) He might have been moving faster than traffic;

2) He was probably safer than I was on the LFP between Oak Street and Fullerton around 6:15 tonight.  I should have taken the Riverwalk to Dearborn and taken Dearborn north like I usually do!

maybe its time to take over the interstate as a protest for what drivers do to us daily...

(sorry I am just so pissed off with the close call I had today.....)

So, my wife picked me up and drove us to the burbs. My legs were too shot for the 30 mile back home ride. AND we see this poor guy on the start of the express lanes zero Expletives given. She said don't you ever. Take Clark.

I fairly regularly encounter drivers cluelessly steering their cars on paths in Lincoln Park where no motorized vehicles are allowed. Somehow that's never as newsworthy, though.

There's been enough stuff happening around North Ave. beach this summer that you might want to avoid that area for your evening commute until we get into much cooler fall weather.

I normally do not go anywhere near the path in the evening.  I take Dearborn up to the park and ride through it to get over at Fullerton.  I happened to be at DuSable harbor last night and decided to tough it out and stay on the path.  It was horrendous.  On the descent from the bridge over the river to Illinois the crowds were wall to wall and then there was one of those four person pedal things trying to get up from Illinois to go over the bridge.  I got off and walked. 

Starting at Oak Street and running almost to Fullerton the number of pedestrians, roller bladers, and impatient cyclists was greater than I have ever seen.  I got home and said I would rather ride on Western at rush hour than do that again, and then I saw Michael A's post! :-)

I happened to be listening to newsradio 78&105.9fm radio at 6:45pm last night and heard this. The traffic reporter was horrified and incensed about the cyclist in the EXPRESS lanes. I was worried too. He probably WAS moving faster then traffic!

Sadly, as stated, I saw this. Guy was not moving faster than traffic. Was in a more upright position and going totally casual as if rolling down the lane. Drivers were moving so fast past, I didn't even realize he was there on the left shoulder of the express lane until we passed him. My wife's foot is a bit heavy and I think we passed at about 60 mph. Really felt terrified for him, but he seemed like it was nothing.

Your normal route is one of my old NB routes from when I lived in Rogers Park. Sorry to hear that you got caught in the middle of that mess - why I usually avoid that section of the lakefront path in summer.
