Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

I regrettably didn't take a photo -- sorry, I was too verklempt (sp?)! I was riding south on the Dearborn bike path, just south of Harrison, when I encountered a car smack in the path, heading north, taking up the entire thing.  I came to a stop in front of it, and saw a young woman getting out, carrying two accessory dogs (nothing against the dogs, btw).  Clearly, the car had maneuvered its way onto the path to allow the woman to avoid walking the extra two yards (ok, maybe three) from the street to enter the building.  So totally ignorant and thoughtless.  I wanted to stay there and make the dude back up, but cooler heads prevailed, and I squeezed by... but not without telling him he was stupid.  Twice.

Maybe we should start calling such over-privileged people "Louise Linton"? :-)

Beware on Lawrence Ave. westbound, from Elston to the Kennedy ramp, between 4:30 and 5pm.

Illinois License # 31 on a police memorial plate, on a big black Tahoe.  Driver is reckless, and thinks nothing of the clearly marked bike lane.  He'll run you off and think nothing of it while he speeds and bullies his way through to the WB on ramp.

#ClearTheWay

I've had several incidents with rage drivers on that westbound stretch, to the point where I now head south to Montrose to avoid it, even if it adds an additional mile to my ride.
